SENSORIO

Magical Realism

Sensorio, the intersection of art, technology and nature, will be a destination for entertainment, exploration, meditation, adventure and delight. Sensorio will honor the natural topography of the landscape and offer a wide range of amusing, mystical and kinetic experiences. The Central California destination launches with the interactive light installation by Bruce Munro, as other exhibits and buildings are put into place for an expected opening in 2021. Future attractions at Sensorio will include a hotel and conference center.

Bruce Munro: Field of Light at Sensorio is comprised of an array of over 58,800 stemmed spheres lit by fiber-optics, gently illuminating the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing colors that describe the undulating landscape. This is Munro’s largest artwork to date.

Powered by solar, the stunning exhibition will captivate visitors, inviting them to engage with the landscape and environment through an ethereal light-based and sculptural experience. With so many unique offerings and experiences for the entire family, Sensorio is certain to excite, inspire, and reward all who choose to explore this constantly evolving sensory experience.

The land at Paso Robles is a rhythmical undulating landscape and it produced a lovely surprise; as one looks along the valley, one’s perspective creates the illusion of an increased density of the stems at the top of every contour. It looks as if the landscape has literally been drawn in light. Field of Light installation is different because of the landscape it inhabits. These installations are ephemeral, a collection of repeated materials created by many hands. Like theatre at its very best.
