They don’t call Colette the “trendiest store in the world” for no reason. But alas, all good things come to an end where all in the fashion community mourn the news of its closing this 20th December! No other has remained so consistently cool and full of surprises, true blue champions of emerging names like Colette.

Like a landmark on the Rue Saint-Honore, the store that’s represented by two circles in Pantone 293 c blue has set its mark on history. The founders, Colette Rousseaux and Sarah Andelman thrilled the fashion community with its chic finds that Karl Lagerfeld would frequent Colette, as “they have things no one else has.”

As Colette is so ingrained in the Parisian landscape, #nodrama but some say a certain heartbeat at the center of Paris will cease to exist; a sentiment that may be shared among some of us, no matter as a professional or as a customer… But hey, here’s cheers to more gems in the future.

Circa 1997, Colette’s success stems from its ever-evolving approach to fashion. Propelling a stream of collaborations, launches, and its famous window that’s said to have hosted more than 2,000 displays, it defined what a concept store was: representing established fashion powerhouses and niche brands in the same space.
