Art Basel Hong Kong 2018 has come and gone for its 6th time, featuring 247 leading galleries from 32 countries around the world; united to showcase a wide range of masterpieces into one place from March 27 to 31, with contemporary artwork made by both established and emerging artists.
The Galleries sector boasted artworks made up of different artistic mediums across the 20th and 21st centuries. The Insights sector feature historical materials, highlighting Asian art history through forms like pocketsize wood engravings or nude photography, whilst the Discoveries section looks at emerging artists.
From Andy Warhol, George Condo, Jeff Koons, Frog King, Yayoi Kusama and more, gallery visitors were able to feast their eyes on many creative pieces at every corner and every story they stroll to. And what are the sections showcased at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre exactly?
Francesca Pasquali (@turnabuoniart)The Kabinett section showcases curated exhibitions, and Encounters was a curation that emphasizes audience participation (via bodily movements, or the presence of the viewers through mirror reflections). And at the Film section, there were 59 film and video pieces that explored current socio-political issues!
Ulio Le Parc, Sphère BleueWhichever tickles your fancy, we hope some of you managed to experience the world through the eyes of those talented artists while the exhibition lasted. The next Art Basel? That would be in Basel (Switzerland), from June 14-17 2018. So, keep an eye out!
