Louis Vuitton's traveling exhibition

Louis Vuitton’s “Time Capsule” exhibition gives new meaning to the term “trunk show.” The French fashion house, perhaps best known for its monogrammed travel trunks opened its traveling brand retrospective.

The “Time Capsule” presentation is composed of six installations with pieces from Vuitton’s archives. The first room is the “Artisans’ Room” which provides a live experience with Louis Vuitton craftspeople showing the process of how each bag is handcrafted. The craftspeople also explain about every materials, including the hardware and the leather which is natural cowhide, Epi Leather, Taïga Leather, Utah Leather, and other leather that is used in the making of each products. Each leather has their own uniqueness. 

The exhibition re-examines Vuitton’s contribution to fashion and travel. It covers the luxury label’s 1854 inception through present-day to provide fashion fans with a glimpse into how the brand has grown from their classic luggage and accessories company to a full-fledged fashion house that has become known for its colorful collaborations with contemporary artists.

The next is the “Journeys Around the World” which highlights how the brand’s luggage has evolved along with transportation advancements. Throughout this century Louis Vuitton surpassed the challenges presented with various new forms of transportation with the most advanced and elegant solutions. Followed by accessories and small containers, including Roof Trunk and Driver's bag. And other bag such as Steamer bag for sea travel, which can be packed with clothing compartment and trunk cabin. For air travel, Aéro Trunk and Aviette, made to carry lots of clothes. How intuitive!

Moving on to the second room, “The Key to the Codes” which features Vuitton’s original trunks; which leads the success of Louis Vuitton, this room presents an timeline of important moments in the history of Louis Vuitton and traces the creation of Louis Vuitton's main key which is very distinctive continuously, such as their Hardware, materials, iconic pattern, Mallatage technique.These various distinctive elements shows accuracy in making the Louis Vuitton trunk.

The fourth room “Elegance in Motion” explores the lifestyle of Vuitton’s on-the-go clients through objects such as a monogrammed cassette box and record player. Vuitton as founder of Louis Vuitton, began his career as an expert in trunk or known as Emballeur. Throughout the time they keep innovating and offer their client a lifestyle product with the best quality material. In this room they will also explain about how the emballeur could be used to carry whisky bottle, perfume, watch, jewelry, and also make ups.

The “Icon of the House” room which features the brand’s most notable designs and collaborations, displays the choice of Louis Vuitton's most memorable and symbolic creations. When Vuitton launch each design becomes an item that must be owned and remains known to this day: it becomes a very important and undeniable that each design speaks for each era but also represents the changing character of Louis Vuitton. In this room there are some collaborations with contemporary artists such as Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama, Richard Prince, Jeff Koons, Supreme and other artist around the world.

And the last but not least “Magic Malle” room which includes a never-before-seen red carpet animation and digital trunk using holographic technology. Magic Malle invites visitors to the journey of exploring the visual and creative world of Louis Vuitton. The experience invites visitors to wade through Louis Vuitton's history of the first container ever made, through the constant creation and evolution of layered canvas, to become a Louis Vuitton brand and company.
