The New York Fashion Week showing the Fall/Winter Collection of 2017 has been going underway, showing so many brilliant looks made by the most brilliant minds today. So, let’s jump right in to it.
Perhaps one of the most influential men’s label around coupled with a list of pristine womenswear that includes Jil Sander and Christian Dior, Raf Simons has great things up his sleeve for Calvin Klein. With its rebranding described as “a return to the spirit of the original,” he has riffed on Americanism this #NYFW #FW17 through brightly colored band uniforms, Wall Street suits and men’s parkas.
Also up on #NYFW #FW17: Proenza Schouler‘s logo also got some treatment; sliced horizontally on the extra-long zipper pulls like a beacon on jackets – adding cool to the uncomplicated looks. Victoria Beckham also went with the easy-but-versatile attitude with her structured and mildly oversized looks paired with sheer chiffon skirts. And as for Public School NYC, you wouldn’t have to look far for those in search of a political statement pieces.
#therow also created a collection where fabric rules; making clothes par back to their essence – like crisp white shirts tucked into hip-slung pants. Similarly, @siesmarjan focused in on how the fabric drapes over the body.
Taking a closer look at fabrics, @rosie_assoulin looked to interiors and the fabrics you’d see on your furniture, pairing them with her first solo collection of shoes – wooden heels, also similarly inspired by table legs.
The RowIn the spirit of going for “the less complicated, the more modern,” @houseofherrera went for streamlined looks; not forgetting to complete it with crisp polish arrangements, where intricate detailing makes for an overall put-together look. Whereas for @oscardelarenta, the gowns and pantsuits were more colorfully bold (if not garish); made by designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia has been said to bring back some youthful verve to the Oscar brand.
If you get excited about choosing subtle but luxurious materials, then you’ll love what @gabrielahearst has got. This year’s Woolmark Prize winner did a fantastic job balancing practicality and desire
@delpozo carefully constructed a collection where shapes and hothouse colors reigned, exuding a space-age vibe. Its rich palette inspired by the Nabi painter József Rippl-Rónai and rounded shapes from sculptor Max Bill – its interesting how it fits within a fashion context.
