Paris Fashion Week 2017

Fall/Winter Collection

My my, how time flew by. Today’s the last day of the #PFW #FW17 series and as per usual we’ll be featuring some of our favo picks this season! Stay tuned for more, coming up next.

Acne Studios,APC

With the political climate ever thunderous, even @acnestudios have yearned for the good ol’ [simpler] days. The childhood nostalgia he derived from finger puppets took form in long deconstructed lined dresses with earth tones cut in asymmetric lines. As for @apc_paris, the rulebook still hasn’t changed since the 90’s. In simplicity, therein lies their beauty.

“I decided not to make a big event of it. I just thought about going back to the essence of a show—models, lights, chairs.” said @driesvannoten on his 100th show.

Srsly? The venue might have been, but the show was still #epic as it styled models who have walked for him since 1993, with reference to what they were wearing back then. Talk about remixing.

Balenciaga

But – it was no-nonsense black pantsuits with boxy jackets at @celine, or buttoned-up collars paired with stirrup pants.

“At @balenciaga, wearing the clothes inspires new clothes.” said @demnagvasalia. Looking through up to 30 years of photographs, designs were born as models were holding up their coats, jackets, duffels and puffers. Distinct from his street-based @vetements_official, Balenciaga captured modern sophistication; taking ease and wearability into account.

Céline
Paco Rabanne, Miu Miu, & Givenchy

This #FW17, @givenchyofficial chose looks with lace and ruffles that were “as representative of the house codes as possible!” Experimentally, @pacorabanne ‘s full-on chain mail get-up was a smash-hit at #PFW, successfully integrating the house chain mail to building up the brand. But with @miumiu, it’s all about face it down, glam it out, and represent.

At @chanel, @karllagerfeld has done it again. Blasting off a giant space rocket in the Grand Palais was a fitting launch to their #FW17 collection at #PFW. For Karl, we’ve got to go forward, beyond. At the mothership, models wore glittery lunar boots with black tips, whilst carrying cute cute cute satellite bags. We’re finally closer to living in outer space! Ugh, take us with you.
