Men’s PFW Trends

Fall/Winter 2017

Yeah, yeah. Everyone’s been talking about the glorious Supreme x Louis Vuitton collab, or Thom Browne’s ever-so theatrical show among other things... But let’s not forget to a look at the buzziest shoes to have appeared at the Men’s Paris Fashion Week runways!

Kenzo

Isn’t it great when it rains and you remember you brought your umbrella? That’s called preparedness. Just like @kenzo ‘s approach to creating a hybrid shoe for this Fall’17 with their square-toed snow boots x sandal overlay; described by designers as “ready-for-anything” shoes. When nature hits, you gotta know what to prepare for, y’know?

Sacai

This year, @sacaiofficial focused on the idea of deconstructing and putting things back together again in a... back-ward (?) manner. Not that it’s a bad thing! New perspectives bring new things to the table. And so, they took traditional work-wear boots and flipped them upside-down (or, front-side back?) by reversing the lace-ups to the back of the shoe.

Maison Margiela

There’s been a lot of re-interpretations this season, hey. On the same bandwagon, @balenciaga showed their take on “tailored workwear” but in a more... Streetwear-influenced way. They showed suits paired with sneakers; like their colorful and purposefully distressed ones that’s perfect for running to the office (literally).

In aims to express... “Artistic intervention [that] disturbs minimalism,” @maisonmargiela reimagined the classic dress shoes that were anything but. For example, their loafers were done in patchwork leather, made up of the lasts of different oxford pairs of shoes. Yay for recycling!
