With just two more episodes coming up, one can’t possibly contain themselves to see whether or not the Mother of Dragons will succeed in breaking the wheel… Whilst some might seem far removed from reality, some are surprisingly close to it. As for the stairs that led up to the castle, it was filmed at Gaztelugatxe in Basque Country, also in Spain. Perfectly picturesque, the winding stone steps actually led to an ancient monastery on the mountaintop in reality.

Buying her army of Unsullied to conquer the seven kingdoms at the port city of Astapor, the scene was shot in Essaouira, Morocco. In the same season… The Unburnt & The Breaker of Chains went on to the slave city of Yunkai to liberate more slaves, filmed at Ait Benhaddou, at Morocco, too.
#spoilersalert! With Cersei as the (current) Queen of Westeros sitting on the throne, the filming of the grand city of King’s Landing was filmed at Dubrovnik in Croatia,
Dubrovnik,Croatiaat the Old Town that’s made of a maze of stone cathedrals and terracotta-roofed houses at every corner. As for the Great Sept? Not in Croatia, but the gothic Girona Cathedral made its appearance in Catalonia, Spain.
As for the Lannister’s ancestral home… #spoilersalert! The medieval castle called Trujillo located in Spain doubled as the stronghold of Casterly Rock. As it stands perfectly in the (seemingly) impregnable fortress, one can climb up its stone towers and walk along the battlements – exactly where Grey Worm and the Unsullied army fought against the Lannisters.
