Couture 2017

Fall/Winter Collection

In a mix of all the legendary couture houses, we’re all still trying to contain ourselves from all the awesomeness that has been going on in Paris just in the past few days. Whose show was your favorite? Here’s ours. Stay tuned.

Giambattista Valli

Demonstrating the raw emotion that is haute couture, @giambattistavalliparis delivered a sublime show that received a standing ovation. This #FW17, Valli went straight to big night dressing- particularly desirable to those who love that lavish look covered with crystals and intricate embroideries. His creations are always authentic and believable… just look at their Euro-chic audience! Balletic tulle gowns, slinkily-sexy draped silk chiffon pieces and powder-puff fantasias, oh my gosh.

Christian Dior

Chanel

Showcasing the skills of @chanelofficial ateliers and their amazing craftspeople, the imaginative and expressive sketches were brought to life at this #FW17. The collection exuded pre-World War I vibes with their skinny-bodied jackets, complete with the canotier hats that Coco herself wore in that period time – all worn by the girls who daintily tiptoed in down the runway.

Christian Dior

The legendary @mariagchiuri has done it again. Held at an outdoor show in the gardens, @dior ‘s stage was complete with wooden animals, setting the scene to show the #FW17 collection that was inspired by travels around the world. Not only was it predominantly Dior gray, the collection also included silk velvet dresses with dramatic portrait necklines, or intricately-designed outfits with elaborate paintings or fantastical maps!

Elsa Schiaparelli

In collaboration with an excellent circle of creative women, @elsaschiapareli ‘s creative director @bertrandguyon imbued this #FW17 collection with a sense of freedom, liberty and independence, conveyed through alluring evening dresses in their unstructured lightness. There was a draped asymmetric dress in wispy malachite green, and a shocking pink number in silk chiffon. With an eye for the subtlest details, these pieces were treasure-worthy.

Iris van Herpen

Heavily preoccupied with water, air and the fluidity of both, her pieces were printed in straight lines, before pleated to create wave patterns on robes that become almost majestic, whilst laser-cut silver stretches of fabric will give everyone that head turn. Perfect for starlets? Most definitely.

Iris van Herpen

Remaining far ahead of her designer peers, @irisvanherpen is a visionary presenting avant-garde pieces this #FW17.
