Paris Haute Couture

Spring 2017

Haute. Couture. Yeah, it’s still one of the world’s most exciting runway shows ever... Though some of the frocks one sees probably cost more than many cars, it’s not about that though – it’s about art; beautiful design work representing ideas of the world’s greatest minds in fashion. Stay tuned to our top four takeaways this Haute Couture Spring 2017.

Bridezillas

Sometimes bigger isn’t always better, but it is the case when it comes to wedding dresses. Bridezillas are making such a fashionable comeback – not by attitude, but in size. See the beautiful creations from @channelofficial to @dolcegabbana at #HC17. Imagine walking down a traditional chapel in this, though?

Superstitious

Superstitions... When things get chaotic in this world, that’s one we go to for things that we can’t quite explain. Yes, we’re at it this #HC17 – especially #marziagraziachiuri at @dior and #pierpaolopiccioli at @maisonvalentino where they touched upon some mystical, supernatural themes. Channel your inner woodland nymphs and fairies, or become a serene Greek goddess for a day (or two).

Environmentalism

Who said every couture piece had to be frivolous? In some cases, one’s environmental values doesn’t have to be compromised. Look at @viktor_and_rolf ; the duo’s dedicated to the idea of up-cycling vintage dresses as fabrics used to construct vibrant creations this #HC17.

The Naked Dress

And lastly... You can never go wrong with The Naked Dress. Still a favorite of the eclectic couture clientele, designers @dior, @maisonvalentino, @versace_official @zuhairmuradofficial, @eliesaabworld and @armani has shown their own take to the semi-transparent gowns aimed at flaunting the wearer’s nude body underneath. Regardless which style was your cup of tea, couture gowns are still as magical as ever...
