Damir Doma

It might be easy to say that @damirdoma ‘s caved in to that streetwear peer pressure, but he’s made a fair point about wanting to design “something people identify with immediately;” designing for his friends, and some even walking in his show. But how do you stand out but yet be so universally relatable? Doma’s bet is with unstructured coats, or mosaic-inspired striped pants. But it’s his confidence in this new direction is what’s so reassuring.

Marni

As creative director of @marni, Francesco Risso (@asliceofbambi) designed the runway to be like a levitating subway seating, explained by how the clothes were meant to “surf the typography of a city,” “invoke diverse objects,” and acknowledge the “nobility of coincidences.” Presenting wearable clothing with a nonconformist touch, this #SS18 collection presented a merge between sailboats and Hawaiian floral motifs with retro looks.

Prada

While @prada isn’t an avid comic book reader herself, it has indeed inspired and illustrated this #SS18 collection showcased at #MFW. Instead of capes, Prada went with fine topcoats in neutral hues. Utilizing comics as a decorative motif, it is because “They are hand-drawn, human, simple and real. Even if they contain of course all the worst fantasy, they look simple… They are little fragments of life.”

Fendi

For some, surfers are escapism’s standard. And for @dellacqua it was no exception. Printed pictures of waves, surfboards and palm trees on top of white shirts and roomy bermudas, down to polo-shirts and even to sneakers and pool shoes. At this time of the year, “reality is increasingly hard to endure. And honestly, … I’m badly in need of a vacation!” explained Dell’Acqua. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

With models wearing a mix of luxury-fied casual-wear and emasculated corporate-wear, @fendi didn’t stop there and added double-F ogo ties, suspenders and baseball caps to show “…Fendi normality.” Successfully finding that sweet spot between wearable and perversely covetable, designs this #SS18 included oversized suede sportswear jackets, track jackets with pink panels in leather, and a mink blazer.
