FORMENTERA

Ibiza’s Little Sister

The Balearic Islands, a sun-kissed archipelago of islands and islets east of the Spanish mainland,  there lays four stunning islands Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca, and Formentera. Formentera is the smallest and the least known island whose ethereal beauty attracts the boho-chic crowd that prefers lazy lounging by gentle turquoise waters over glitzy soirees.

Formentera has a deep, proud hippie past. It was once considered part of the “hippie trail” that ran from Europe to India, underground railroad of stoners and people seeking perpetual bohemian vacation. Formentera is full of caves to explore, Instagram-friendly lighthouses, classically Mediterranean white stone villages, and mopeds zipping around. But the real action is at the beach.

The Balearic Islands’ prime location at the center of the Mediterranean Sea means a climate characterized by dry, humid summers and mild winters #thingswelove. Having sunset drinks isn’t a thing you may or may not try out in Formentera. It’s kind of what you do. Every night. It is the start of the evening. For some people it’s the start of the day. Every day the sunset is dramatic and beautiful, and there are almost too many rocky outcroppings where you can drink sangria and cava to visit in one trip.

Formentera is also a great place to take a walk, either by the coast or inland: you will see some breathtaking views from fields or cliff tops and stand in awe at the beauty you find. Many like to hike to the old lighthouses, some seek out ancient caves and all go to watch the incredible sunset. The sea, with its clear waters is perfect for snorkelling or diving: an amazing kaleidoscope of marine life bursts out just under the surface of the water. Who’s up for some taste of an unspoilt? TAKE US THERE!
