Back to French Riviera !

Everyone who’s anyone in the film world has migrated to the French Riviera this late May for star-studded red-carpet premiers and days of screenings at the Cannes Film Festival… Having kicked off since May 17, it will be going in full swing until the 28th! While many of the competing films have been pretty solid, many seem to feel like there’s no obvious winner…yet. But here’s a few that we’re placing our bets on. 

The Meyerowitz Stories

First, let’s talk about Noah Baumbach’s The Meyerowitz Stories… Although it’s said to be quite entertaining, what’s seen is quite a refreshing take on how families can be at times, and a realistic one at that. The film’s characters are so familiar, and so real; about one that still hasn’t quite figure out how to live with each other’s deficiencies…

A remake of the 1971 Civil War-era thriller, a star-studded cast includes: Nicole Kidman stars as a headmistress of a girls school that remained open during the war, alongside Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning who agree to take in a Union soldier played by Colin Farrell, when all hell breaks loose with an unexpected turn of events.

The Beguiled 

The Beguiled is one of the film world’s most highly anticipated projects by Sofia Coppola.

OKJA

Those who have watched the Snowpiercer will appreciate this one. Okja is another film by Korean film director Bong Joon Ho, brilliantly using the elements of both action and adventure, without forgetting to make a strong statement about animal rights and Trump-Era capitalism. Telling the story of a giant friendly monster named Okja who is kidnapped by evil corporate forces, a simple farm girl sets out a rescue mission to bring her back.
