Alice in Wonderland is an American animated musical fantasy-adventure film produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the Alice classic novel books by Lewis Carroll. A tale of a girl,Alice, falling through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. Wonderland exhibition takes audiences on Alice’s journey and visualising it into a moving image

The world premiere of Australian Centre for Moving Image’s (ACMI) Wonderland exhibition ran from Thursday 5th April through to Sunday 7th October 2018, located in the heart of Melbourne’s art scene.

Wonderland explores the revolutionary filmmaking, from groundbreaking special effects and animation to evocative storytelling and technological development through moving image adaptations of Lewis Carroll’s seminal works through celebrating the evolution of filmmaking, from the earliest optical toys through to new technologies.

Journey down the rabbit hole into an enchanted world, where expectations are upended and curiosity is your reward. Enjoy the visual interpretation showcases with moving image adaptations of The Mad Hatter tea party, got crawl through to the Hallway of Doors and leads you to the Queen's Croquet Ground.

Design our own unique playing card, then slip your head into a special camera booth to become one of the Queen of Hearts’ cardsmen on screen. Also keep a look out for quirky little details on the screen such as Humpty Dumpty, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Cheshire Cat and of course Alice herself hiding somewhere.
